유방보형물증(BII)이란?
•유방확대수술은 미국에서만 매년 30만명 이상 수술받고 있으며, 전세계적으로 보형물을 몸에 지닌 채로 살아가는 여성의 수효는 천만명을 넘을 것으로 추정됩니다.
• 유방보형물은 1961년 미국에서 탄생하여 약 57년의 기간 동안 검증되어, 자가면역질환이나 기타 질병을 유발하지 않음이 입증되어 있습니다.
•최근 보형물을 제거하기 원하는 환자들 중 몇가지 증상을 공유하는 환자군을 통칭하여 ‘유방보형물증‘(BREAST IMPLANT ILLNESS)이라고 부릅니다

유방보형물증 증상
•여러가지 진단과 검사를 하여도 보형물이나 신체의 이상을 발견하지 못하는 경우인데, 현재 환자가 느끼는 증상 들이 보형물과 연관되어 있다는 믿는 경우입니다.
•전체 환자의 1% 미만으로 추정됩니다.
•‘유방보형물증’ 환자군은 보형물을 제거하기 원하며, 피막을 제거하거나, 세균 검사, 수술 장면 촬영 등을 요구합니다.
•‘유방보형물증’ 의 증상으로는 피로감, 만성 통증, 역한 체취, 부정맥, 불안, 신경증상, 탈모, 내분비 증상 등이 있으며 스스로 보형물이 제거되면 증상이 호전될 것으로 확신합니다.

•소셜미디어에 나타나듯이, 가장 중요한 것은 증상을 가진 환자의 말을 경청하고 이해하는 것입니다.
•가급적 환자의 증상에 초점을 맞추어야 하며, 필요하다면 보형물을 제거하는 것이 올바른 선택일 수 있습니다.
•실제로 절반 이상의 ‘유방보형물증’ 환자의 증상이 보형물 제거 후에 사라졌다고 합니다.
